Biography:

Barbara Odom-Wesley, PhD, RHIA, FAHIMA, is chair of the Health Information Technology Program at DeVry University in Dallas. She is also president and consultant for Medpro Services, an Arlington, TX, consulting firm that specializes in assisting physician practices improve their health information systems and processes. Barbara also consults in the Department of Health Care Administration at the University of Texas at Arlington, and is a retired faculty member of Texas Woman's University. She has a master’s degree from Incarnate Word College and a PhD from Texas Woman’s University. She has been active in health information management since 1968 and has held numerous leadership positions in professional organizations. Barbara is past president of both the Texas Health Information Management Association and the American Health Information Management Association. She is a published author and frequently requested speaker specializing in Personal Health Records.
