With ICD-10 scheduled for implementation in 2013,
professional coders are preparing for major changes to the current
and familiar ICD-9 coding system. ICD-10 is designed to gather more
specific and comprehensive data than ICD-9, and a more extensive
understanding of anatomy and physiology can enhance coding
accuracy. This course is designed for professional medical coders
to identify, and even master, various body systems and their
respective functions to facilitate correct and specific coding of

The course is divided into 7 modules. The course is
enhanced with learning exercises including practice tests, flash
cards, diagrams, slides, and more.

Module Tests:
At
the end of each module, a timed modular exam will be given for
credit.
A
total of seven (7) online examinations are given. Each examination
may be retaken once. A passing score of 70% is required to receive
credit for each module. A total of 21 CE credits in the category of
Clinical Foundations are available with a passing score for each
module (3 credits each module).
Textbook:
The
course requires the purchase of a reference Anatomy and Physiology
textbook that is included in the cost of the registration fee.
Students must read the materials and complete the exercises as
instructed to master the materials.
The text, Anatomy and Physiology, 7th edition, (retails for
$150.00) is used in many colleges to teach the academic courses of
Anatomy and Physiology I and II. The text is a valuable reference
for coders for ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS preparation and

CE:
Credit is given for each module with a passing score of 70% or better.
Students may take the timed exam twice, but all exams must be taken
within the 15 week modules.
After you have completed the entire course, TxHIMA will send you an
email with a link to an online evaluation. After completing,
you can download the certificate of completion that displays credit
for each module (up to 21 CE credits for all modules).
